Food Banks: Continuing The Fight Against Hunger

One in nine people suffers from hunger, according to a report from the World Food Programme. Meanwhile, developed countries are tackling the problem of regrettable food waste that could have been used to feed more people. Despite the abundance, there are still many people even in developed countries that live in food-insecure areas. These days, even existing food banks are also facing a shortage in supplies after a string of calamities. Community-based food banks are responsible for managing the distribution of food items. They handle the logistics and the distribution, making sure in the process that the food people receive are healthy. While there are communities that are still unable to cover their own needs, there are more communities that can supply the needs of more people, even those that are beyond their territory. I
